Buy the Bye

LSU +6 @ Florida
The undefeated defending national champs are 6 point dogs to a Florida team that went 9-4 last year and lost its last home game to Ole Miss???
In my mind, the Bayou Bengals match up very well with Florida.
- LSU has a dominant D Line - the Gators have had issues on the O Line.
- LSU has the nation’s #8 run defense – UF still hasn’t found a traditional running game under Urban Myer.
- LSU has huge WRs – Florida has tiny little corners.
Add in that LSU is coming off a bye and has the best offensive line in the country and I expect Florida to drop their second straight home game - but take the 6 just to be safe.
MISSISSIPPI STATE +2.5 v. Vandy
I’ve gone back and forth on this one, but I have to take Mississippi State on the strength of a huge advantage in intangibles this week.
This is a classic sandwich game for Vandy coming off their biggest win ever over Auburn and facing #10 Georgia next week.
Mississippi State is playing at home coming off a bye, has made improvements by switching QBs, and actually looked pretty good at LSU in their last game.
Last year, SEC teams coming off a bye week were 9-0-3 against the spread so I’m going with more cowbell.
KENTUCKY +1 v. S Carolina
This has all the makings of another 3-2 game in the SEC.
After last week against Alabama I’m convinced that the Cats have a serious SEC defense.
Kentucky wins a slugfest at home: total score under 20, deciding points scored or set up by Kentucky’s D in the 4th.
NORTHWESTERN +2 v. Michigan St.
Northwestern is undefeated and building major mojo coming off a bye week.
The Northwestern defense causes a ton of turnovers and turnovers traditionally haunt the Spartans.
Michigan State has not looked good on the road this year, getting stomped by Cal and needing a wacky bad call by the refs to win at Indiana.
